Re-Opening and Recovery
Two-thousand twenty was a year of countless challenges and setbacks. But it’s also witnessed impressive innovation, improvisation, and modification. As companies addressed the challenges spawned by COVID-19 — from supply chain disruptions to government-ordered shutdowns and from virtual workforces to the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act — they’ve frequently had to think on their feet. Now, as CFOs face the demands of financial reporting and accounting – hopefully in a post-pandemic economy -- they’re pondering and prioritizing which issues need to be front and center for companies to re-open and recover under the “new normal” business environment.

Speakers:

  • Jana Allen | Manager in National Office, Accounting & Reporting Services | Deloitte
  • Eric Knachel | Partner, Professional Practice Group | Deloitte

Human Capital Reporting. Is Your Company Ready?
Whether you’re part of a public company that is required to address the new human capital disclosures or a private company that needs to begin considering the requirements, there is a focus across all industries on understanding the value of human capital as a key factor for sustainability and long-term success. Join us for this session to better understand:

  • Current talent management and workplace trends
  • The new SEC disclosure requirements and how to comply
  • How to identify human capital metrics and develop a scoreboard
  • How to increase the value of your organization’s human capital by investing in retaining top talent

The Impact of President Biden's Tax Policies

However, with an evenly split Senate, the President probably won’t get everything he wants. This session will review Biden’s Tax Plan at a high level, and discuss what the proposed changes will mean for you and your company.

Cash Forecasting Accuracy: The How and Why
Cash forecasting leads to efficient working capital management and strategic resource allocation -- considered the building blocks of growth. Accurate cash forecasting entails predicting two primary components - Account Payables (A/P) and Account Receivables (A/R). While it is relatively straightforward to forecast A/P, the primary challenge is accurately forecasting A/R by regularly tracking customers' high-variance payment patterns. Analysts often rely on extensive spreadsheets, which are suboptimal for picking patterns across multiple transactions. This uncertainty in A/R cash forecasts prevents working capital optimization and leads to poor receivables turnover from high-risk accounts.

Processing months and years of transaction data based on mathematical formulas sourced from AI brings out the most accurate payment patterns. Reliable prediction of the A/R component stabilizes cash forecasts and allows planning of working capital weeks and months in advance. Join this session as we explore how to go about accurate cash forecasting - the crux of high-risk customer management, working capital optimization, and capital budgeting. Join this session and learn about:

  • Gathering and using the key drivers that improve cash forecasting accuracy
  • The Next Frontier: AI-based cash forecasting models
  • How variance analysis over multiple time horizons increases credibility with your CFO.
  • How improved accuracy in cash forecasting benefits A/R performance

Investors, lenders, and customers are increasingly asking for the disclosure of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data. Technology's Role in Changing the Finance Profession
What is technology’s role in keeping the finance profession functional and relevant? The recent pandemic forced change for the finance professional and with that change came massive disruption on how we do business and collaborate with clients. Selecting the “right” technologies was a recent differentiator in an organization’s ability to survive. Some struggled with client service, some encountered challenges with a remote workforce, while others did not miss a beat.

Jim will share his perspectives on what he witnessed during this period of change – the good and the bad, and he’ll share some of the best practices for technology in finance around technology and innovative solutions in this new world. You’ll gain a new appreciation and awareness about some of the unique technologies that are ready to take finance to the next level, as well a clear directive to your IT support personnel on the technologies and platforms that should currently be under consideration -- allowing your finance teams to function whether staff are working in the office or working remotely.

Leadership in a Distracted and Remote World
Our communication preferences have a lot to do with our generation; what we experienced as children and how we were raised. As children our communication preferences were cemented, and for most of us, those same partialities are the ones we rely on today as leaders. We presume others share our communication preferences; that others will want to exchange information the same way we do. Yet nothing could be further from the truth.

In today’s world with so much pulling at our attention and our teams working remotely, teams seek leaders who can cut through the clutter and get their messages through. Now more than ever teams need leaders who are empathetic succinct, reliable, and honorable. Each member of a team wants to boast that his or her boss “gets me”, and communication plays a big role in that.

This session will explore the preferences of each of the five generations so that you will learn what each of your generations of employees needs from you. When you leave, you will have the insights and easy-to-apply tactics to quickly see results and successfully lead your teams, even in a remote environment.

How to Become Your Company’s Moral Compass
Today’s CFOs handle far more than just financial operations. They serve in the company’s trenches, shaping strategy and culture — which means they also have a fiduciary responsibility as the company’s conscience. Even so, many CFOs struggle to balance personal values with company performance. As a result, many adopt a “work persona” — a caricature of the type of leader they believe others prefer: the hard-nosed skeptic, the technical expert, the know-it-all.

In this talk, John explains how to avoid the Persona Trap and unleash the power of a fully authentic self in the workplace. He provides practical exercises for dialing into your authentic values and talents, sharpening communication and strengthening your influence throughout your organization.
