Achieving effective ICSR 
On March 30, 2023, the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) released supplemental guidance on achieving effective internal control over sustainability reporting (ICSR), based on the COSO integrated framework. Crowe ESG Services Leader Chris McClure contributed to and is quoted in the report.

EU carbon tax 
On April 18, 2023, the European Parliament approved legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The legislation includes the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, which adds a carbon tax on certain imports to the European Union (EU).

Reporting on chemicals in children's toys 
The Oregon House of Representatives passed a bill to expand reporting requirements of the 2015 Toxic-Free Kids Act, which requires disclosure of certain chemicals present in children's toys.

Canada’s Environmental Protection Act 
Canada is proposing updates to its 1999 Environmental Protection Act, including reference to citizens' “right to a healthy environment.”
