Financial Executives International, upon the recommendation of the Committee on Taxation Executive Committee, joined with several hundred associations, trade organizations and businesses on a letter to House and Senate leadership calling for a change in the tax treatment of R&D expenses under Section 174 of the internal revenue code to allow taxpayers to fully deduct R&D expenses in the year they were incurred. The letter was organized by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).
