Andy Gandhi

Andy Gandhi, a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal, leads the firm’s Data Risk & Compliance offering. He is an information risk specialist with more than 18 years of global experience advising companies and law firms on complex data issues related to compliance, investigations and legal and regulatory matters.

Mr. Gandhi actively assists global corporations in compliance and forensic technology-based investigations for privacy violations, fund misappropriation, breach of fiduciary duty, embezzlement, sabotage, intellectual property theft, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), anti-money laundering (AML) compliance and other internal fraud issues. He also counsels clients on diligence and selection of advanced AI, machine learning, and blockchain legal, cyber and AML technologies.

Mr. Gandhi supports corporations in clarifying and responding to ESI requests for the Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and civil litigation inquiries, and has advised global companies on meeting obligations for cross-border data requests driven by global regulators. He has testified and presented expert reports.

Mr. Gandhi has served as interim security lead in response to a breach during a corporate Fortune 500 M&A transaction of a pharmaceutical company, leading the breach response by the team consisting of internal and external resources, as well as providing cyber forensic and investigative services to identify any theft of intellectual property and the assurance that the breach cause was remediated prior to the acquisition.

He led a post-breach exercise for a global fashion retailer to manage the incident response investigation and post breach remediation, as well as assist in the development of a board-presented security program to modify future data storage and security architecture strategies. In addition, Mr. Gandhi led the data and cyber diligence team during a pre-deal exercise on behalf of a private equity firm.

Mr. Gandhi is actively serving as neutral data arbitrator in multiple matters and leading global teams to investigate geolocation based blockchain financial transactions and advise on secure PHI/PII data analysis, sampling methodologies and discovery production protocols.
