Mr. C. Thomas Harrington

Mr. Harrington is a partner and co-founder of The Bakery Cos (TBC), a high-speed bakery company headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee.  The bakery group owns and operates six plants located in Georgia, Tennessee, and South Dakota and produces over 8 million pieces per day for elite customers such as McDonald’s, Conagra Foods, Pepperidge Farm, and Five Guys.  From 1996 until September 2019, Tom grew the company to over $100 million in annual sales and served the company in the following areas:
 
  • Strategic Planning
  • Banking Relationships
  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources, covering over 500 associates
  • Business Development and Acquisitions
  • Chief Financial Officer
 
Prior to his experience with TBC, Tom worked for various firms in public accounting and owned and operated a successful public accounting firm, serving many family-owned businesses covering a wide variety of industries, from 1982 until 1997.
 
Mr. Harrington currently serves on the board of a local construction firm with over $300 million in annual sales and approximately 1,400 employees.  Until most recently, he served on the board of his college alma mater, Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois (2011-2020).
 
In 2019, Tom was recognized with the CFO Lifetime Achievement Award by the Nashville Business Journal.  Prior to that he was awarded the CFO of the Year Award by the same organization.  Under his leadership, TBC won the 2019 ConAgra Brand Supplier Award “Enabling the ConAgra Way”; Business With a Purpose Award from Lipscomb University in Nashville; and Best in Business Award from the Nashville Business Journal.

Mr. Harrington is a graduate of Millikin University, Decatur, Illinois with a major in accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1971.  He and his wife have called Nashville home for the past 20+ years.
