Randy Oostra

Randy Oostra, DM, FACHE (68), is the Managing Partner of Blueprint N1, a venture capital group focused on investing in companies dedicated to improving healthspan and longevity.  He is also a partner of the CEO Advisory Network.
 
Randy previously was the President & CEO of ProMedica, a not-for-profit mission-based, integrated health and well-being organization headquartered in Toledo, Ohio. The $7 billion organization was serving communities in 28 states. It offered acute & ambulatory care, an insurance company with a dental plan,  post-acute and academic business lines. The organization had more than 45,000 employees, 12 hospitals, 2,500 physicians and advanced practice providers, 1,000+ healthcare providers employed by ProMedica Physicians, a health plan, more than 335 assisted living facilities, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, memory care communities, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and hospice & home health.
 
Randy has more than 40 years of health care and management expertise, with 25 of those years spent at ProMedica, where he served as their CEO, President & COO for 17 years. Randy is regarded as one of the nation’s top leaders in health care and has earned a spot on several prestigious listings, which include Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People for six consecutive years (2017-2022), Becker’s Hospital Review 100 Great Leaders to Know in Healthcare (2019) and Modern Healthcare’s Top 25 Innovators (2022).
 
ProMedica has received numerous national recognitions and accolades under Randy’s leadership. The organization is widely known as a national leader in addressing the social determinants of health and is consistently recognized by national associations and accrediting agencies for superior clinical quality, safety, and patient experience. The organization’s flagship Toledo Hospital has a 5-star rating from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and recognized for three consecutively years as one of the nation’s 50 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades. ProMedica has also earned a spot-on Forbes Magazine’s America’s Best Employers and was named one of the Best Employers for New Grads.
 
Randy is a visionary leader who truly believes community and service work hand in hand and exemplifies that in his professional and personal life. A strong commitment to the healthcare industry and community is demonstrated through his extensive involvement in numerous professional and civic organizations at the local, regional, and national levels. He has served on the board of trustees of the numerous national organizations such as American Hospital Association, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), The Root Cause Coalition, which ProMedica founded and the American Nutrition Association. He currently chairs the board Toledo Museum of Art, and sits on the boards the Mosaic Family Zone, the Art Tatum Zone, and several startup companies. Randy is also a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a nationally recognized speaker on healthcare transformation, social determinants of health, and healthcare’s role as an anchor institution.
 
As recognition for his strong commitment and positive contributions to the community, Randy was honored with the Jefferson Award for Public Service. He also was chosen by the Jefferson Awards Foundation to represent Toledo at the organization’s national ceremony in Washington D.C. Additionally, Randy received the Ohio Hospital Association’s Donald R. Newkirk Award for making a significant lifetime contribution to the healthcare industry. He was also named an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year winner for the Michigan and Northwest Ohio region.  Randy also recently completed his first book “The Narrow Path to Expansive Vision”.
 
Randy holds a Doctorate in Management from Case Western Reserve University, a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin EC, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northwestern College.
