Mike began his career in the audit department of a Big 4 Accounting firm more than 25 years ago. After public accounting, he worked as the Controller and Senior Finance Executive for a 55 employee moving and logistics business. After completing his MBA, he joined the consulting group of another Big 4 firm and implemented multiple ERP systems and Financial Reporting solutions. Mike then served as the Executive Director of Corporate Financial Reporting for a $1 B healthcare provider with medical, nursing, and graduate schools.
Subsequent to that, Mike returned to his roots as a consultant – assisting numerous clients (from startups to Fortune 50) with Sarbanes Oxley compliance, accelerating the accounting close, assessing acquisitions and business process redesign, assessing IT departments, program change & release management, and IT security. He has industry experience in construction, technology, energy, financial services, government services, healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, oil field services, facilities management, professional services and retail.
Mike received his BBA in Accounting from Baylor University and his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Mike is a CPA, CMA (Certified Management Accountant) and CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor). He is also the current Vice President of the San Antonio Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA). An Eagle Scout himself, Mike is an active supporter of the Boy Scouts of America - having served as a troop Scoutmaster (mentoring more than 50 young men to the rank of Eagle Scout) and a Venturing Crew Advisor. Mike has completed 19 MS150 bike rides since 2006, raising tens of thousands of dollars for Multiple Sclerosis research and patient care. Recently, Mike completed his 4th full marathon.
