Chris Newman

Chris Newman is Vice President in the Employee Benefits practice. Chris uses his insurance carrier background and Actuarial Science degree to break down often-missed hidden profit areas in carrier renewals to drive bottom-line savings for his clients. Chris advocates adherence to preventive healthcare screenings and uses his personal story as a cancer survivor in presentations and panel discussions.
 
Chris previously worked at UnitedHealthcare for eight years where he held numerous roles in sales and underwriting. Most recently, he has helped employers with 100-3,000 employees throughout Southern California find the best health plans for their employees. 

Chris earned his B.S. in Mathematics with an Emphasis in Actuarial Science from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and holds active Life & Health Insurance Licenses in the State of California. 
He is currently serving on the Board of Directors at The D10 Los Angeles, a high-level athletic competition that has a profound impact on pediatric cancer research. The D10 is a national organization that has raised over $14 million for pediatric cancer research since its inception. Chris also actively volunteers within USI’s Give Back Program.

Chris is a Minnesota native, moving to Southern California in 2012.  After being diagnosed with late-stage melanoma in 2018, he underwent immunotherapy and now counts himself as a proud cancer survivor being cancer free for two years.

Chris lives in Hermosa Beach with his wife and stays active by playing sports like golf, hockey and tennis.
