Doug Campbell

 

Honored to serve since April 1, 2017 as the first General Counsel for Covenant Health, the area’s largest healthcare provider and employer of more than 10,000 of our East Tennessee neighbors. 
 
As General Counsel, Campbell is the chief legal officer for the company, with reporting to the CEO and the board of directors.  Campbell’s responsibilities include representation of the health system, constituent hospitals and for-profit and nonprofit affiliates; physician contracting and relationships; healthcare mergers and acquisitions; construction and licensure of health care facilities; corporate and organizational governance; regulatory compliance efforts involving state and Federal laws; laws affecting nonprofit and tax-exempt entities, and other areas. 
 
From 1985 until April 2017, Campbell was with the Knoxville law firm of Wagner, Myers & Sanger, P.C.  As a partner in that firm, Campbell represented large and small businesses, including Covenant Health.  Campbell received a bachelor’s degree in business administration, with high honors (accounting 1984), and a juris doctor degree, with highest honors (1987), both from the University of Tennessee, and was named to the Order of the Coif.  Campbell is an AV rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest ranking available.  Campbell has served on numerous industry and community boards and is an active member of Northstar Church.  Campbell and his wife, Susan, have three grown children and live in South Knox County on the beautiful French Broad River.
