Dr. John McCracken

John McCracken is Clinical Professor of Healthcare Management at the Naveen Jindal School of Management of the University of Texas at Dallas and Adjunct Professor of Family and Community Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center.  He is the founding director of the Alliance for Medical Management Education, an educational partnership between UTD and UT Southwestern which offers a nationally recognized Healthcare Management Executive MBA for physicians.

Dr. McCracken formerly served on the faculty of the Columbia University Graduate School of Business, as a Wall St. investment banker and as a senior corporate financial officer. He has served on the boards of a major hospital and managed care organization and currently serves as an advisor to several large physician group practices.

For over a decade Dr. McCracken has provided coaching and mentoring to physician executives throughout the U.S.  He has published widely on physician executive coaching and is co-founder of the Remedial Track Coaching Program for physicians referred by the Texas Medical Board.

Dr. McCracken holds a BA in economics from Southern Methodist University, an MSc in economics from the London School of Economics and a PhD in finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  He is a recipient of the Jindal School of Management's Distinguished Teaching Award and the Executive MBA program's Most Outstanding Professor Award.  His former students have endowed the John F. McCracken Chair in Healthcare Management at the Jindal School of Management in his honor.
