Benjamin Martin

Benjamin is a passionate and thoughtful corporate sustainability professional with over 7 years of experience leading ESG strategy and reporting at public companies. His approach is highly analytical, with a focus on reporting investor-grade ESG disclosures that drive results for financial performance and risk management.

Benjamin is a member of the ESG and Sustainability team under the Risk Advisory practice at Baker Tilly US - a leading CPA advisory firm. In his role, Benjamin supports clients of all sizes and industries across a wide variety of sustainability services, including a deep focus on reporting readiness for key regulations. This includes risk, technology, and governance solutions to ensure information is accurate, auditable, and decision useful. His engagements span readiness and assurance projects for EU CSRD Reporting, SEC Climate Reporting, and other relevant rules and standards. He also supports clients with ongoing sustainability strategy, reporting, and stakeholder engagement advisory. His industry experience includes consumer goods, energy, financials, forest products, healthcare, manufacturing, and technology.

Prior to his role at Baker Tilly, Benjamin was a member of the ESG advisory practice at Solebury Strategic Communications - a boutique investor relations advisory wholly owned by PNC. In his role, Benjamin advised corporate management teams on investor-focused ESG strategies and communications. He advised both private and public companies, with deep expertise on ESG communications for IPO events and climate disclosures. He also previously led the sustainability reporting function at Enviva (NYSE: EVA), a leading biomass energy producer. He managed several areas of ESG strategy and reporting, including the company’s inaugural materiality assessment, greenhouse gas inventory, and sustainability report.

Benjamin holds an MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and a BA in Environmental Science and German from Franklin & Marshall College. He is a SASB FSA Credential Holder and has a certificate in Corporate Sustainability from NYU Stern Center for Sustainable Business. Benjamin was a Fulbright Fellow in Munich, Germany and a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduate (REU) Fellow at the University of Kentucky School of Forestry. He lives in Washington DC and enjoys volunteering with local performing arts and conservation organizations.
