The Dog Bar on March 11th!
The Dog Bar concept started in Charlotte, NC in 2005, but our speaker Fred Metzler helped it find its home in downtown St. Pete. Bringing the unique concept to Florida proved to be no easy task. But the almost four-year long fight with city and state regulations has proved to be worth it.
Bring your furry family member (or not - dogs not required) and join us as Fred discusses the challenges of starting this unique endeavor, liability issues, and powering through the challenges of COVID-19 so his small business could survive and thrive.
This is an outdoor event with plenty of room to spread out. If you would like to bring your pet, there are some caveats (day pass fee will be waived by Dog Bar):
- Bring a copy of your recent Rabies, Parvo and Bordetella shots with a date of expiration (either the paper receipt or an email/picture you can pull up on your phone). Please leave all toys at home and come with a non-flexy or non-retractable leash. When you arrive the membership desk staff will walk you through the process of signing your dogs up.
- All dogs over one year of age must be spayed or neutered.
- In the FEI event area (which is outside of the open yard play area), you must keep your dog with you on a leash. If you choose to allow your pet into the off-leash play area, you must stay with it and monitor its behavior (and also pick up after your pet).
- Hors d'oeuvres will be served from 5:30 - 6:30, but food is not allowed in the play area. Drinks are okay, however.
- Casual dress - comfortable shoes (seating is limited)
- You should be comfortable around dogs - the venue will open to the public during our event, and there will be a lot of them.
