The CFO Role in a Private Equity Backed Venture

In private equity-backed companies, the CFO is viewed as the link between the portfolio company and the financial sponsor. PE firms tend to be quite influential in the CFO selection process, looking for a CFO who can support their investment thesis. A CFO experienced in acquiring and integrating companies will be invaluable for a company looking to roll up or grow through acquisition. If the exit strategy is an IPO, then a CFO with public company/capital markets experience is important. The trade-offs debated in selecting for the right candidate can be varied and complex.

Our panel of senior executives will provide insights based on their varied experiences in the PE world including how to pursue CFO opportunities with PE backed companies, what to plan for if you are looking for PE investment in your company, and what to expect from PE sponsors once you are associated with a PE firm.
