FEI Gives Back: The Mitch Halbrich Scholarship Fund

In early 2017, FEI Baltimore Board established the Mitch Halbrich Memorial Scholarship Fund with a $12,500 contribution in honor of our former board member and sponsor Mitch Halbrich.

Mitch was a well-respected staffing executive in the Baltimore community and a columnist for the Baltimore Business Journal. More than that, he was a friend to our chapter and a valuable member of our board.

During his tenure, Mitch served as our Programs Chair. He planned our monthly meetings and rallied the board to attend meetings and network. He also leveraged his connections to increase the visibility of our chapter and introduced us to many long-standing members. His tenacity and support helped to grow our chapter at a time when membership was waning, and for that we are grateful.

In 2016, Mitch lost his battle to lung cancer. However, he leaves behind a legacy that our chapter hopes to continue through this scholarship fund. The fund provides a $2,000 scholarship each year to a student enrolled in the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University – Mitch’s alma matter.

To support the scholarship, our chapter has hosted a number of fundraising events, including two crab feasts and this year, a Baltimore Raven’s watch party and Friendsgiving event at the Center Club. This event raised more than $8,000 to support the scholarship fund and honored his legacy with an evening of fun and friendship.

We are forever grateful for Mitch’s contributions to our chapter, and we hope that you will join us in supporting the scholarship fund in the coming years. To donate, visit: giving.salisbury.edu and stay tuned for details on our 2020 fundraising event.
