Miss Shirley’s: The Making of a Locally-Owned Dining Destination

Established in 2005 by restaurateur and Baltimore native Eddie Dopkin, Miss Shirley’s Café was created as a tribute to an inspirational employee and personal friend, Miss Shirley McDowell. known for her sassy charm and sheer joy of preparing dishes for those she loved.

Beginning as a small 42 seat café in Roland Park, Miss Shirley’s Café has become a passion for the Dopkin family, including Brandy and David, along with the management team & restaurant staff, who have helped nurture and grow Miss Shirley’s Café throughout its relocation to 513 W. Cold Spring Lane, expansion, and into its two other locations at the Inner Harbor and Annapolis.

Miss Shirley’s Café has gained national press attention from the likes of The New York TimesThe Boston Globe, and Food Network Magazine, but has maintained its local resonance with consistent praise from Zagat, Baltimore Magazine and What’s Up? Annapolis Magazine.
