Laurie Schmidgall

Laurie Schmidgall is the Senior Director of Government Accounting at the Boeing Corporate office in Chicago, IL and leads the team responsible for government cost accounting, overhead accounting, material accounting, labor accounting, and cost policy. She has extensive expertise in interpreting the Cost Accounting Standards and Federal Acquisition Regulations’ Cost Principles, providing guidance to ensure compliance to these regulations, and responding to regulatory changes. Ms. Schmidgall works directly with Department of Defense personnel, including the Defense Contract Management Agency and the Defense Contract Audit Agency, to address Government contracting compliance concerns.

 

Ms. Schmidgall represents The Boeing Company in several associations, including the National Defense Industrial Association, Aerospace Industries Association, and Financial Executives International. In her role with the industry associations, she has analyzed proposed CAS, FAR, and DFARS rules and drafted comment letters to the promulgation boards, briefed interested Government procurement officials in Washington, D.C. on regulatory matters, and briefed various association committees on topics of interest.

 

Before joining The Boeing Company 16 years ago, Ms. Schmidgall worked for several commercial companies, including Zenith Electronics, during which time she developed expertise in a wide variety of accounting and finance disciplines. Her work history includes practical experience with GAAP, financial statements, SEC filings, tax filings, pensions, asset accounting, internal audit, employee compensation plans, benefit plans, corporate liability insurance, payroll, ERP conversions, and inventory management.

 

Ms. Schmidgall is currently serving a second four year appointment by the US Government to the Cost Accounting Standards Board as the representative of industry. In this role, she is actively involved in the rule-making process and responsible for communicating industry’s perspective.

 

Ms. Schmidgall completed her accounting education at DePaul University in Chicago and is registered in Illinois as a Certified Public Accountant.
