J. T. Young currently serves as the 11th President and CEO of Memphis Light, Gas and Water (MLGW) where he is responsible for leading a team of more than 2,700 employees. Prior to joining MLGW in 2018, Young spent 29 years with Gulf Power Company where he served in a number of leadership roles.
A native of Pensacola, Young received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Florida. He has an MBA from the University of West Florida and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s General Management Program.
Young and his wife Deidre have two sons, Jarl II (‘Thomas’) and Joseph.
