Andy Hickl is an innovator in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing. He currently serves as Principal Program Manager in the Azure Special Capabilities team, where he leads investments into novel AI capabilities across the verticals most important to Azure customers.
He has held leadership roles in AI at Microsoft, Intel, Rewired Ventures, Vulcan Inc., and Language Computer Corporation. While at Vulcan Inc., he served as the Executive Technical Advisor to philanthropist Paul G. Allen, where he co-founded the Vulcan Proving Ground (a high-technology startup incubator) and helped start the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence. He also held a Technical Advisor role at Rewired Studio, a $100M venture fund focusing on applications of robotics and artificial intelligence for the developing world. A serial entrepreneur, Andy has co-founded three startups: A.R.O. Inc., Swingly, and Extractiv.
Mr. Hickl currently holds board positions with Hypergiant Industries and the Living Computer Museum.
