Committee on Taxation Meeting - May 18-19, 2017

FEI’s Committee on Taxation (COT) will hold its spring meeting on May 18-19, 2017 in Washington, DC. The meeting agenda includes several topics related to comprehensive tax reform proposals currently being considered by the Congress and Trump Administration, an update on a new campaigns initiative by the Internal Revenue Service and a discussion of blockchain technology. The meeting will kick-off on the evening of May 18 with a networking dinner, location to be announced, where COT members will be able to network in a casual setting. The meeting will continue the following day at 8 a.m. at the Microsoft Innovation & Policy Center at 901 K Street, NW, 11th Floor, with a full day of presentations and roundtables. COT members will hear the Senate Finance Committee’s perspective on tax reform from Mark Prater, the Committee’s Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief Tax Counsel. Shahira Knight, Special Assistant to the President for Tax and Retirement Policy will offer the Trump Administration’s view on tax reform and Dean Pinkert, former Vice-Chair of the U.S. International Trade Commission and currently a partner at Hughes Hubbard & Reed will discuss the implications a border adjustment tax would have on international trade law.  COT members will also get an update on the IRS’ new campaigns initiative from Deputy IRS Commissioner Rosemary Sereti. The meeting will conclude with a presentation on the role of blockchain technology in corporate tax departments.

The meeting will also include two roundtable sessions that allow COT members to discuss current trends, share best practices and identify future Committee initiatives.
